Moses/Wisdom Project

Thanks to everyone who participated in the MOSES Forum on October 27 and who offered their feedback to the discussion questions.  In reviewing those responses, the Council has decided that more factual information on MOSES, as well as what is expected of Member Congregations needs to be made available and absorbed by the congregation before a vote is scheduled on whether it is appropriate for MCC to become a member congregation.

The Board of Mission and Stewardship will continue to share information about MOSES with the congregation from time to time.  They will also try to encourage those who are interested to become individual members of MOSES.  This would involve a $50 membership fee and the commitment of time to the organization.

Thanks again to everyone who was involved in this process.

The following is an excerpt from the Declaration of Purpose of WISDOM, the statewide organization which includes a bipartisan group called MOSES representing the Madison  area:

“We are people of faith united by our passion for justice, commitment to community and a practice of hope…We believe God has called us to live, speak, and act courageously in accordance with our faith beliefs.”

As we contemplate whether it is appropriate for MCC to formally join MOSES, one of the questions has been:  “What other faith based organizations are already members?”
